Cowpunchers Reloaded Solo Game Play Report #1

I don't post enough blogs on here and I really should. Not enough time in the day to write games, do art commissions, and make content for the youtube channel. Today I released "Lonestar Mode" for Cowpunchers Reloaded which is a small supplement to allow you to GM yourself. It takes some creativity to GM yourself but I hope the simple tables and oracles will make that a bit easier for you. I did a solo session and wanted to share the results of it. The writing is brisk because these are my notes I took as I played (I solo game in Foundry and keep a journal within). Everything is generated from the core rule book, Lonestar Mode, and my imagination in interpreting the dice rolls.

Session 1

May 6th, 1862

Sancho is in Tubac. Small place. The storekeeper here has work he needs to be done. Sancho doesn't have any food left and figures he might as well take what work he has. He is trying to leave the bandit life behind and make an honest living. He's a vengeful man, this storekeeper. He is a bulky man and heavy set.

The storekeeper gave Sancho a long speech about his legacy, wanting innovation, comfort, and pleasure. He seemed long-winded. Sancho was able to get out of him that he wanted a guard for his shop. Sancho specified that most bodyguards go for $100 a month.

The storekeeper didn't like that price.

Sancho negotiated down to $90 a month with food and lodging provided. the shopkeeper said he could hire Sancho for up to 5 months. That's $450 dollars. Good money. Hopefully, it's a quiet 5 months and he can make some easy honest dollars.

May 7th, 1862

First day on the job. Quiet until May 21st.

May 21st, 1862

6 Mexican grey wolves were stalking around the property at night and caught Sancho by surprise while he was smoking out back. After a tense standoff, the wolves retreated into the night.

May 22nd, 1862

Watched as one man was hanged for robbery. Sancho is reminded of his past profession and that he could have ended up on a noose.

May 26th, 1862

The wolves came back again. Sancho was caught pissing. It was another tense standoff as he saw 6 sets of glowing eyes staring at him from the darkness. After a few tense moments, the eyes disappeared into the dark.

March 28th, 1862

Sancho saw 9 wild horses in the distance. He attempted to approach them, maybe to get onto one of their backs and break a horse in. He doesn't have a horse so it would be good to have one of his own. He brought the horses an apple. One horse came close enough to get near Sancho. Sancho jumped on the horse and was able to calm it down. He doesn't have a saddle though. Maybe he can buy one with his money from his job.

June 1st, 1862

Sancho gets paid his $90. He buys a saddle for $30 so that he can ride his new horse. He also purchases a Henry Model 1860 lever action rifle and 40 rounds for $1. He also buys a rifle scabbard for $2.50.
